About the role
The Solicitor position is a fulltime position. The position is initially for 12 months with the possibility of further extension.
The position is located in the Christies Beach office however travel to rural and remote areas of South Australia may be required from time to time.
The position will work within a multidisciplinary team. The Solicitor will be responsible for the provision of high quality legal assistance and casework services in a range of different areas of law.
The solicitor position will be based in our InDIGO program which is a specialist domestic violence unit located within the southern and outer southern metropolitan region of Adelaide. InDIGO provides a holistic legal wrap-around response for women experiencing or fleeing situations of domestic and family violence through the provision of targeted legal and non-legal services.

Overview of the job
The role is predominantly an accounts officer performing the following duties:

Maintaining and reviewing financial records;

Ensuring compliance in accounting policies;

Regular preparation of budgets in collaboration with the Managing Lawyer;

Monitoring expenditure and profits and providing reports to the Managing Lawyer;

Evaluating internal management systems, procedures, and risks in order to provide recommendations;

Industrial Officer - Lawyer

AN INDUSTRIAL OFFICER’S DUTIES ARE AS FOLLOWS:
Providing information and industrial and legal advice to vulnerable people who are primarily not members of unions and who do not have their own lawyer.
Provide industrial legal advice across a wide range of federal and state legislation concerning industrial, discrimination and employment matters.
Represent clients in conciliation, arbitration, and court hearings with respect to workplace claims and disputes.
Working closely with the Director, and the Senior Industrial Officer the successful candidate(s) will have responsibility for carriage of disputes, pre and post conciliation/mediation.
Maintain files and organise client data for the purpose of reporting.
Perform ancillary tasks as directed.
OUTREACH AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION
Represent the Working Women’s Centre on a broad range of community, union, government, legal and departmental committees as necessary.
Prepare and present community education sessions.
Raise Awareness through innovative and target of the need of women and vulnerable people in various forums.
UNION LIAISON AND ASSISTANCE
Educate and assist women in gaining representation from their unions.
